Anger Management
MW Services' Violence Intervention Program is taught by qualified instructors who have been facilitating anger management programs since 2003. Our program aims to draw out the strengths of the individual participants and helps each person recognize their triggers, identify goals, along with helping individuals see where their underlying feelings come from that lead to anger. Chronic anger can be costly, both on an emotional and physical level, and can lead to self-destructive behaviors. MW Services helps clients learn how to identify angry-feelings before they get out of control and to redirect their anger in a healthier and more positive way. Participants will learn conflict resolution skills, assertiveness training, communication skills, and healthy coping mechanisms to reduce levels of anger.
The Violence Intervention Program is offered in 3 levels starting with our introductory 8-Hour Violence Intervention Program which consists of four 2-hour sessions. The 12-week Violence Intervention Program is our Level 1 program and meets for 12-sessions in 2-hour intervals. This program is for individuals exhibiting violent episodes not generally related to domestic relationships. Our 24-week Violence Intervention Program is our Level 2 intensive program which meets for 24-sessions in 2-hour intervals. This program is for individuals who have exhibited violent and abusive behavior (domestic & non-domestic). In this program, there is a strong emphasis toward personal accountability.
Anger Assessments are also available to determine the appropriate level of care by using up-to-date standardized evaluating tools. All programs use a skill-building format where participants are encouraged to do readings, role play activities, and homework assignments between each session.
Classes are offered in our office during the weekday in the evenings. Our group sessions are offered year-round but are considered "closed" sessions where participants will start with a group and finish with the same. Individual anger sessions are also available. Please contact us here if you are interested in our anger management services to schedule an intake appointment.
